Life, Episode VI Continued

One year ago today, just after midnight, I published the first entry of this blog and The Awkward Spinster was born. If you came late to the spinster party, make sure you check out that very first entry. Don’t worry, it’s a short one.

Here I am 12 months later: still awkward (incurable, apparently), still single (perpetual, apparently), and still trying to write about it weekly. A lot has happened in Episode VI of my life including new jobs, a new (old) church, a new writer’s group, an old book club, and lots and lots of family time. To be honest, I’m quite happy with this part of my story so far.

I just wanted to thank you, my lovely readers, for tagging along on this adventure so far.

Your comments here or via social media have brought me great joy. As I head into year 2 of this project, I’d love for you to send me any topics you’d like the Awkward Spinster to tackle in the next few months; either comment here or wherever you access this blog.

I may love your idea and write about it.

Or I may not.

Is it gauche to wish myself a happy anniversary? Ah well, since I’m embracing my awkward side, I’ll go ahead to do it. If I had champagne, I’d be popping a bottle right now.

Anyway, thanks again and I hope to get lots of ideas, silly or serious, as we head into year 2. Thanks for reading.

    1. Aw, thank you for these kind words. I’m happy to have you along via the internet!

  1. Congratulations on your first year! I’m preparing to kick off shortly so appreciate this post and your first post! Well done!!

    At 47 I’m at Episode V.
    Episode I: Happy childhood
Episode II: Tertiary education, independent singleness
    Episode III: Single back home
Episode IV: Interstate, married and children
Episode V: Separation, divorce, free to live as Jesus’ disciple according to my own conscience

I appreciate it’s easier to choose and commit to singleness now than before I was married, but it’s still something I think about, hence my googling and finding your blog.

    1. Thank you, and welcome along on this journey! Glad Google led you here. I hope Episode V of your life brings you much joy, many opportunities to grow and continue to glorify God, and even more freedom to live as his disciple. What an exciting new episode!

  2. Hey, I’m in LA and like you… I feel like we might have met. I wrote the book, “God Loves the Freaks” about being a Christian geek/freak and how that’s ok! 🙂

Let me know if you want to add another Christian geek to your hangout group!

    1. Hey Stephen, thanks for commenting! It’s always great to meet another Christian geek. There are more of us out there than many would like to admit!

  3. Hi Fawn,

I have really been enjoying your blog! Keep it Up!
Potential Topics: 1) Media Consumption and how it affects mood/ view of identity
    2) Strategies to Cope/Thrive with Sucky Single Times 3)How to Battle Bitterness
    Hope this is helpful!

    1. I love these ideas and am definitely adding them to my list. Thank you Emma!
